Okay yesterday: Spent 3 hours debugging and it turns out that my program stuffed up all because I had Wifi in one file, written as WiFi in another T_T

Today: Wasted another 2 hours debugging for something simple like sizeof(double) instead of sizeof(int)

Why must I waste so much of my time on these careless errors? Speaking of errors, I really should pay more attention to my version history, if I can keep about 45 project files for each AMV then I should be able to immediately do the same when coding T_T

In any case, I must admit that I do love c++ and java the more I code, object orientated languages > procedural

Also woke up with a MASSIVE headache and felt like crap for the entire day. Lesson of the day? Don't drink 0.75L of coke right before you go to sleep.

Minami-ke

Most comedy anime I don't find funny but there were a lot of LOL moments in this as well as a interesting range of characters. What it's about: 3 sisters (one primary school, one middle school, one highschool) living together =P It follows the same formula as School Rumble except not all the humour is centered around misintrepretations =P

Anyway season 2 wasn't on the clubroom computer so I'll grab it on my own but they must have changed production teams because the animation has been completely changed and I liked the style of the first season ~_~ Apparently they went for more fanservice and less comedy in season 2 so it isn't as good as the first but we'll see =P

going to UWA tomorrow to catch up with people and for massive leeching (about 12 series to get from the clubroom computer hopefully they are on there or Rui will be in the clubroom :/) err of course the real reason is to attend the Microsoft XNA programming conference =P

Might as well bring my DS and mingle with other people's like Sally, apparently some pins in 'The World Ends WIth You' can only evolve through DS-DS mingling pp. Speaking of pins, the jelly one - ranked 'reaper' (you scratch an empty space on the screen to generate electricity) even though you can get it pretty early in chapter 2, is very broken, like - being able to easily play through the game on lvl1 on hard mode broken :/

SooOOoO what have I done today? I ate out! Went to a chinese bbq house in Joondalup, think its called Chinese Palace or something. Its a really good place, I've been to a lot of bbq houses but they are about the only ones who can pull off a good fried boneless lemon chicken. So here are the ratings:
Lemon Chicken - When I buy this i expect it to be CRISPY unlike some restaurants - Girraween so
BBQ pork with Chow Mein - bah this was kind of average, I forgot what Chow Mein was so bought it out of curiosity XD
Spicy Mongolian Lamb - Yep, this restaurant is able to pull it off, a lot of others = tough meat but joondalup's got it tender.
Deep Fried Squid with spices - This was really expensive but I enjoyed it, the spices they added it to it reminded me of Hois Kitchen. And of course like I said to numerous people when Hois Kitchen in Northbridge closed down a couple of years ago a part of me died, because dim sum is never going to be quite as awesome =( but yeah this came close but the squid pieces were pretty big, though it was to be expected since this was a chinese BBQ house and not a dim sum lunchbar.

If you haven't already seen it, theres an amusing Phoenix Wright satire by VGCats: http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/5125/phoenixom7.jpg

...I haven't released a new AMV in 7 months :/

Went to a uni m8's house where my group started progress on our pool table game/err 3D interaction which is due in 4 weeks at the end of the semester. We made a surprisingly good start. Someone in the group (theres just the 3 of us) is an absolute mathematics and programming prodigy so he managed to get collision detection working - so the ball doesn't go through another ball or through the table into an infinite space, this is probably the toughest part of the entire thing because it requires a great deal of maths and some physics modelling and to get it done in our first real attempt at the project is really awesome. Anyway we delegated the tasks, he is doing the logic design and programming, other group member is doing the physical programming, texturing and lighting and I'm doing the camera and interactivity programming, I have a great deal of interest in 3D cameras/viewports and motion, things like that. Anyway we did the work from 1-6 then thought we'd stop for the time being and played some Smash melee which I really have played to death to the point of not being as good as I used to be due to boredom.

Also check out Erin's (AMV studio member's) new AMV :D -
<lj-embed id="23" />

Argh I knew this was going to happen, the game is by the maker of Kingdom Hearts so I should have expected some bonuses to collect =| Well I'm in chapter 2 now so probably too late to collect the chapter 1 ones, I'll just gamefaqs and read the contents of the ones I missed *reads the first* oh geez these are really like Ansem reports, I can tell there will be a sequel, or something left unexplained in the game :/ Anyway last boss of chapter 1 was too easy, I think I'm overleveled - lvl20 at the end of chapter 1, been killing everything and fighting bosses level 1 though, not that hard once you evolve the ice attack and get the second version up to level 8. Erm the plot twist about Shiki gave off a lot of Digimon series 1 vibes, inner conflicts etc XD But digimon 1 and 2 were awesome =D Joshua... is not cool. Chapter 2 = rap music.

And thank you for reading an LJ entry where you have no idea what I'm talking about, now go get the game =P

PS: Alyssea lets mingle sometime =D

Okay so for the past year I've been basically bitching to people about how slow my laptop is becoming, and even contemplated buying a desktop comptuer because I suddenly had the follow restrictions:
Cannot watch an MKV/MP4 H264 AMV or fansub with a resolution greater than 704 x 400.
Cannot edit an AMV with anything except MJPEG.
Cannot do common things with my laptop while a virus scan is happening.
Well one year later, this very moment, I've discovered the problem: Acer laptops have Acer ePower management and there is this option which asks you to specify CPU power when the battery is at certain level. And I see that I somehow, probably accidentally have low setting - pretty much 0% of total CPU potential activated when battery is at 100%. So I drag the bar right across to the right to "high power" and suddenly everything is working great. I don't even get a delay when I try to skim through a large file in VLC player.

I kinda knew I did something like this, been talking to people who were able to view these things on a pentium 3 or 4 and I'm on a dual core 1.

Well err I guess at least I saved a lot of electricity and the bill could have been a lot higher :/ No more avis for me \o/ *watches lag-free Attack of the Otaku for the very first time*

Supposedly the alternatives are to air either a shortened version of the episode four or nothing at all this weekend while they remake episode three. That’s very disturbing news to say the least, but I can understand why they might feel inclined to do that since the leaked part does have some huge spoilers for the entire episode. And given that they’re thinking about remaking some of it, it’s not even clear if the leaked part is canon anymore. In any case, an official announcement will probably come in the next 24 hours, and I’ll be sure to update this post"

Even metal bands like Sonic Syndicate - doesn't fit in with the sound and form of the song (croaky voice nature of metal music) but the lyrics are there -_- And yes I'm trying to make an action vid and this is one hurdle I still can't break out of *continues getting albums AtomX linked him too hoping to find something different for a change*. Surely there are heaps of other issues songs can explore? I mean humans experience more emotions than love, jealousy, heartbreak etc :/ Song searching sux.

I guess I have 2 choices:
1: Ignore the fact that the chorus is as following:
"Be my prize, don't go, don't leave my eyes
Only for tonight
Give me life, hold on, don't close your eyes
Not before tonight"
2. Turn the vid into a yaoi AMV.

Just got my blue belt =D

Anyway today I went to the Career Fair held at Murdoch. It was pretty interesting, I didn't expect that many companies - some pretty nice ones. I found that a lot of the local IT jobs are actually from the government. There were about 4 departments offering graduate programs, I talked to the staff there and they mentioned rotating around various roles before you go into a specific area, sounds like what Jeff did last year so that sounds good, I'll be up for that. Starting salary is $49k so can't argue with that too, I'd be happy with $35-40k in my first year to be honest. Other than that, there are a lot of engineering positions and accounting... I went to the Westnet stall and asked about their work positions, I think I'll apply for casual work in their st george terrace office during the holidays, should be a good opportunities to learn about 'real work' not stacking and rotating milk like I did yesterday =P

Also went for my fortnightly city-stroll which consists of getting off the train then going to the following stores in order:
Empire Toys - Nothing new here, I still seem to set off the alarm whenever I come and leave the store, whether this has anything to do with me being a walking electrolyte since I seem to get zapped by the cages at work the first time I touch one that night, I don't know. They don't sell Megami magazines anymore which makes me sad because I found out recently there were quite a bit of posters I would have wanted from the edition with Hayate on the cover ~_~ Also they are selling the Claymore 'Clare' model I saw at WAI-Con, its very tempting because the craftmanship is excellent but its $79 thats too much for something which would just stay on my shelf. Someone tell moogri/John about this though since I remember him saying on the PANIC forum that he would pay any price for it XD
Freaks N Geeks - god damn the store gets bigger each time I go there. This time the store has stocked up on various notebooks of all sizes and series and more importantly a hell load of anime and RPG OSTs. I bought the Tsubasa Chronicle notebook, god knows why, I just felt like it XD It's actually a package of 4 separate notebooks with pretty small pictures inside (do you want a couple Erin? I think you will like them and I have hardly any use for 4 XD). I also bought the Shakugan no Shana OST for no other reason than being a committed fan of the series. All OSTs there are $14 btw, I had to seriously consider whether they were bootlegged or not because I would have thought that OSTs are fairly pricey...? but after opening it up, it seems pretty legit to me ~_~
Game traders - Nothing new, except a Smash Brawl tournament happening next week XD

Vampire Knights and Code Geass S2 starts next week =O

If anyone has a copy of the anime Munto and Munto 2, please raise your hand XD It's such a rare anime, I can't find it anywhere, there are no english subs on the internet.
Burning PS2 games

Okay I've been hearing mixed opinions on the intrawebz so I was wondering for those with a PS2 modchip and burnt games, what DVD media do you use? I don't want to kill my laser just yet because I have so many things to complete before making the switch to PS3. Need to know, brand name like TDK, Imation, whether I should go for a + or a - and typically what burn speeds are the best for this kind of thing?
