[music |Bloc Party - "Uniform"]

After the whirlwind that was last week, things have slowed down for a couple days. I started my new job on Tuesday, and it's been surprisingly fun so far. Even though I'm up early as hell, it's not really a big deal as long as I go to bed at a reasonable time. Danielle and I usually work similar hours, so both of us being up that early makes things easier too. Once I get there, we get split up into teams then go out and take care of business. We usually stay in the same crews, so I've been with four other girls, planting flowers all day. I really like working in teams, as well as the people I'm working with. Everyone there is really nice, and my crew is a lot of fun. Job isn't stressful at all, and being outside all day is great. As far as work goes, so far, so good. :)

Met up with my mom yesterday to pick up my birth certificate and social security card, being that now I'm essentially on my own, I should have those things in my possession. We met up at the outlets near the IL/WI border and got dinner and did a little shopping. Twas relaxing. :3

Leaving for acen tomorrow. Yaaaaaaay. \o/

[music |Talk Show Host - Radiohead]

Firstly, apologies about previous post. It won't happen again. There is no point moping about something that is out of my control. So...onto happy times! :DD

Anyway..I've been thinking about how stressed out I have become..stress levels really impacting mental health and quality of life.

My schedule at the moment..which I will want to drastically cull at some point..

~ Work, necessary and funds all things. Hate job..but job = travel, fun and hobbies. Unfortunately cannot cull. That's life.

~ Music, band and singing and all that. Will probably cull considering am moving out of state and travelling a lot. Sad as it brings me much joy, but I guess even if I didn't have everything else going, it wouldn't be fair to them to commit through all this then not be able to make gigs.

~ Sewing, brings me great joy. Cannot quit even though some part of me wants to hurl everything out the window. Have made a goal to complete WCS etc.

~ Guitar, keeps me sane, will never cull.

~ Drew, is awesome, obviously will not cull. Though time being spent with has reduced somewhat due to juggling all hobbies. Much sadness at fact that he does not support my moving to Melbourne or my travelling. He doesn't want to leave Perth and I respect his decision.. D:

~ Friends, keep me sane, will never cull. Wish I could see you all more.. Will make efforts to increase social presence. There are many people who I want to get to know better and not just on a superficial "Hi, Bye" at parties.

~ Dance, on hiatus at the moment until I can sort out my schedule. Am extremely amped to get back into hip hop and ballroom. New popping and locking class to try that I've been wanting to do for ages. Also want to take up lyrical.

~ Swordfighting, have intense desire to get into. Did Fencing for quite a while. Am just indecisive about whether I want to learn something Eastern or Western. Any suggestions?

~ I want to get into the SCA because they look awesome and I've always wanted to, again..time and schedule.

~ Arts courses, have intense want to continue my fashion course. Have looked at night class options.

~ Building up a portfolio with [info]crushedcereal for stylist work and modelling. I jump at any opportunity to offer my services as a stylist, because I love it.

~ Building up my personal label: Elixirplease - been a dream of mine since forever. Drew invented the name. One day it will be a reality. No one will ever ruin that dream for me. I have contacts within the industry, it's all about finding time for me to do things.

~ Learning html and constructing Elixirplease.com for portfolio purposes. Want my personal corner of the interwebs to put random shiznit on.

~ Taking up conversational French and Japanese courses. I would love it if people want to join me.. :D

~Many many photoshoots. With many many people. =^.^= Making memories.

...err..that's all I can remember for now..
I hate being busy.. I have so much I want to do and so little time..

Like...Wednesday...I leave..yay for overnight flights...

I'm still waiting for it to hit me.
That next week, at this very time, I won't be home.
I won't be listening to my mother bitch.
I won't be dealing with a bitchy little brother.
I won't have to wake up at 6am to go to work after working till 11pm the night before.
I won't have to get up at 4am to let the dogs out.

I will be off, in a new place, hanging with the most awesome people on the planet.

Will someone kick me please?
A pinch won't be enough.

[music |Minus the Bear - "Burying Luck"]

Just got back from Philadelphia yesterday morning, and it was awesome. The course was beautiful, and it was a lot of fun to row on. There were sooooooo many teams and rowers there, 124 teams and 3000 athletes to be exact. All sorts of tents were up, some with rowing swag for sale, others were sponsors tents. They were really accommodating to the athletes, and provided free meals and all sorts of goodies for us. We stayed at Villanova University when we weren't at the race course, and even though we were sleeping on a hard floor, it was still better than sleeping on the bus during those 15 hour rides, and better than having to pay for a hotel.

Granted we didn't do so well overall as a team, but the event itself was great. We had three boats qualify for semi-finals - our novice women's four, our varsity women's pair, and our varsity men's heavyweight four. My eight boat didn't qualify, but we did row the fastest we ever had at a 7:13. We were racing in the JV women's heavyweight, which means we were competing against other school's varsity B boats, so people that were recruited to be on varsity, and people that were mostly older and heavier than us. It was good knowing we could compete at that level, but we were definitely at a disadvantage. None of our boats moved onto finals though.

It would have been nice if the weather was a little nicer throughout the weekend. When we got there on Thursday, it was beautiful outside. The sun was out, and it was warm. It actually felt like summer, as oppose to this February-like weather we still have in Milwaukee. Friday sucked though, since it was raining on and off all day, and with thousands of people running all over the place, it was muddy as hell. The sun came back out on Saturday, and made for great weather for the final races. Even though we didn't have any boats competing, we did stick around until the end.

Dad Vails also marks the end of our season, so before we watched the finals, all of us in Marquette Crew sat around in a circle. We passed around a bottle of champagne and a cigar, and each of us said something about the season. Most of us said something to our seniors, and then we had our first meeting with our coach as varsity rowers.

So yeah, it was an awesome way to end the season and the school year. Dad Vails is what we have to work for next year, so it was nice to be able to experience it and actually know and see what we're shooting for. I'm really looking forwards to rowing varsity next year, and doing some rowing over the summer.

Go MU Crew. :)

[mood |accomplished]

Hi everyone! I just finished this AMV this weekend and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Title: Mitternacht: A Hiei, Kurama, Yusuke Character Tribute
Anime: Yu Yu Hakusho
Song/Artist: Mitternacht by E Nomine
Edited on: Canopus DVStorm2 with XPlode4 FX
Comments: In Yu Yu Hakusho, the Makai Tournament Arc is disappointing plotwise, but has the most beautiful animation in the entire show, which makes it perfect for an AMV. In this video, I wanted to show Hiei, Kurama, and Yusuke at their best, their most badass, and I wanted to make those who've never seen the show WANT to buy the DVDs right away. The choruses of the song are dedicated to each of the character's Makai Tournament fights and during the stanzas I tried to give you an idea of each character's backstory, their strengths, weaknesses and fighting style. I didn't forget about the other characters too, everyone gets a little bit of time in the bridge. I edit for a living, so if I can't make AMVs well, then I fail.

Golden Poker [May. 11th, 2008|08:25 pm]

shinomatrix
I thought a random post should be made at this stage.  One which doesn't particularly have any major news to announce, just some way to voice out what's happening around me and waste some time in the process.  My mood these days have been "unsettled".

I can't seem to get some onto some solid footing.  I attribute most of this I suppose to my new job.  In a couple of day's time I will have spent a month there.  Yet, even now I don't have my permanent desk yet, nor the proper computer.  At the same time the work seems to keep piling on my desk.  It wasn't until the start of last week that I even had a chance to get the proper duties briefing with my manager mainly because he too was very busy.  I listened to what he told me I was to do in the company and took it all with a feint grin of confidence.

The work itself isn't complicated.  Organisational work isn't a very hard thing for me to get my head around, however the weight of the responsibilities I seem to be amounting is beginning to become a bit, for a lack of a better word, suffocating.  Our section of the company deals with the Telstra project across Victoria, SA and WA.  The section is divided into 3 groups, Pre-provisioning, Access Services and Installation and Maintenance.  Each group has a host of staff handling the work there, and they are lead by the Project Managers.  Roughly below the Project Managers are 3 Project Engineers.  When I was offered the job as a Project Engineer, I never thought that I'd be one of three.  I thought there would be more than that, like maybe I would be working directly with 2 or 3 other engineers in my section and consequently learn from them in the process.

That assumption is wrong as you are very well guessing at this stage.  I'm the Project Engineer for Installation and Maintenance.  And on Friday, at the end of the day (cos most people were gone and no one could come to me and complain), I assigned about 16 jobs to various people to do for the course of the month.  I gotta assign another 4 on Monday morning.  All of these people have been working here longer than I have.  It just feels very intimidating having to hold myself up against these field workers.  On top of this, my other job is making sure the finance side with Telstra is in check.

I just think, I need almost a year, backing up someone first, before I should be put in charge of this.  But the company, being recently given this massive project (they handled mainly Victoria only before the start of the year), doesn't have time to properly train anyone before throwing them in the deep end... and I don't swim very well >.>

Anyway, writing this seems to have stirred me up more than I would have wanted.  One month... I think I could still go back to my old job... the long drives... sometimes boring days when the work is slow... lower pay with not very much chance for moving up in the company.  I think I was less stressed there... and the reason I changed, I thought, was so I could get away from that kind of stress... has anyone out there been in this situation before?  Anyone ever went back to an old thing because you couldn't handle it?

Gah... 3 months... probation period... if I don't get myself sorted out in that timeline, I propose a serious re-evaluation of my choice.  What's the point of moving to a new job that's just going to make you more miserable?

Bah... to more interesting things, here are a couple of pictures of the yukata Sorrell got for me and Jai from Japan.  I think he must have asked us what we wanted from Japan at one stage months and months ago.  Jai and I thought this might be good.  So this is the result... and I must say, I am very happy with it.  Sash isn't included, but that could be rectified.

I have had a hair cut! A good two inches have been lopped off the back and the bulk of it has been generally thinned out.

On a random whim, I decided to walk into the Korean salon on Pier St to see if they had a vacancy. since the wedding (and the accompanying hair styling) it has been horribly brittle at the ends and seemed to accumulate a lot more snarls and knots of late. :( Anyway, I'm fairly happy with it as it means now I don't have to tug at it every morning. I think I'll also grow out the colour.

Australia's iphone on 3 networks now.. [May. 8th, 2008|04:29 pm]

optus, telstra and vodaphone will have the iphone when it comes here in july, which means that it's most likely going to be unlocked.

looks like we're going to be feeding iphones to everywhere else if they don't unlock them elsewhere (which I doubt apple is that stupid)

in other things.. looks like the speculation on wirlpool was correct on the iinet buying westnet front.

[music |Hearts on Fire - Cut Copy]

Happy Birthday To one of my oldest friends Bertus~!

Random Facts about Bertus:

~In school, people thought because my Chinese surname was "Seow" and his was "Teow" that we were related.
~People thought Emily and Bert were also related.
~We went to school with a lot of dumbass people.
~Bert used to always wear this one Adidas jacket..he actually owned two of the same jacket..and thus fooled us all...
~I gave him the nickname Albertus Medium after a font in Word.
~When giving his speech to be Head Boy, he said to everyone "I'm bi-polar..so a vote for me, is a vote for two of me.." (Bert you moron :P)
~After that line, a guy in our year whispered "OH my god...did Albert just come out of the closet?" And the whole year was convinced Bert was gay.
~I reaffirm the above note that we went to school with a lot of stupid people..
~Bert has mentally scarred my friend Jamie from architecture due to an incident involving Jamie's lap at my 18th birthday..

That's all folks...till next year! Bahahahaha~
